We made a few more enhancements with tonight’s release.
First we fixed a few bugs; some of which were likely impacting chat for a few of you. Second, we reduced the size of our pages once again for faster downloads. There should be no impact on you other than a faster Bonanza. And third, in a more visible change, we redesigned the ‘Buy’ page (check it out for yourself here).
Our goals with the Buy page redesign are two-fold. We wanted a more professional look and feel of course and one that was in-keeping with our new visual style. More importantly, we wanted to create a more compelling experience to showcase the myriad of ways one can shop the great Bonanza merchandise.
Here’s a look at the old version of the Buy page. The screenshot is in the old Bonanzle design, but the page contents were the same below the logo area. As you can see the old Bonanzas took center stage which is no longer relevant in our new Bonanza Rush world. Below the Bonanza area was a rather boring list of links and a hodge-podge of featured items at random sizes; some too small to even discern. Not great for buyers; particularly those reaching for their reading glasses. Overall we didn’t find the page very professional or anything that would offer a compelling destination for buyers.
Our new page (below) brings our Rush sales front and center and introduces some other, more compelling, merchandising for other areas. Beneath the three Rush panels you’ll find a featured seller section for subscribing Bonanza members. Members are selected on a random basis and refreshed every half an hour or so. To the right of the featured seller area you can shop a number of different gift guides - an area of increasing importance as we head into holiday. The newly listed items rotate through a sampling of newly listed items. I probably didn’t need to explain that come to think of it. We round out the page with some upcoming promotions and a random selection of freebies.
We didn't stop at the Buy page either.
PayPal, as some of you know, recently changed their Buyer Protection Program. Now buyer purchases are covered if the item is substantially not as described. This adds to their existing coverage should the item not arrive. I know there are exceptions to this policy, but I'm not going to break them down here or dive into the legalese. This is great news as we are continuously working on establishing trust and credibility with potential buyers (and we know you all are too) who are new to Bonanza. With the launch of this plan we're adding some additional PayPal messaging to our item detail pages (for items that can be purchased with PayPal) and will soon extend it to other areas of the site like the footer and the shopping cart. We expect these additions to help improve customer conversion rates as we head into holiday.
Oh, and one more thing. Happy holidays! They seem to start earlier every year don't you think?

I like it!

Happy Holidays to Everyone!
Here is the new PayPal badge:

Wow, I really love it! It gives buyers exactly what they’re looking for!
First, I love the new look! Thanks for making it so festive. The problem with the Buy page is that someone needs to check the featured Sellers before posting the links. I just sent a note to support on this. The featured Sellers booth has no items in it and the person was last on this site August 6, 2010. That is not good for Buyers to see on their first visit.
Wishing everyone a happy holiday!
I like the new buy page! Happy Holidays!
I love the new look! Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas!

Love the new look on the Buy Page!
Looking GoOOoOOooo ood.. “Happy Holidays Bonanza” :O)
I wish the wrapped gift packages were at the top instead of the holly.
Great job Boyz and Gurlz…as always..
Thanks so much for giving me back my green dots too….yippee!
As of YESTERDAY, I have been with Bonanza for 2 years – I can say, wholeheartedly, that Bonanza just keeps getting Goodier and Goodier!
EXCEPT for the favoritism currently being shown towards Paypal – I’m NOT for that at all, so I have removed Paypal from my options until Bonanza can offer a FAIR and BALANCED policy for our payment acceptance options. I feel that Google Checkout is getting a bump rap in all this.

It looks great!
Very Nice!
Love it!!
Buy page looks great! Love the decorations but where’s the crazy snowman from last year lol
Oh yeah, the evil-looking carrot-nose snowman…I’d forgotten about him, mercifully LOL
Nice job on the buy redesign!!
“Beneath the three Rush panels you’ll find a featured seller section for subscribing Bonanza members.”
Not crazy about the “paying members only” part, but I get that it’s a perk for memberships.
Excellent job; I really like the new look. And the Holiday Graphics are very cool.
Great look – thank you – Happy Holidays!
How about adding an option for the sellers to NOT display that paypal buyer protection if they do not want it to be showing on their buying pages.
The new “Buy” page is a huge improvement and the holiday theme is cute.
I thought I was Hallucinating last night. I logged out and then logged back in and BLINK the site was all Christmasey. I even posted about the “new look”
Glad to see you Rog. Missed that big baby
Buy Page looks good, PP banner is not good. IMHO. GC offers same protections and is not given same billing? Please take the PP banner down. Makes it appear as if I offer one payment option which protects Buyers and one which does not.
I agree the pages on the Buy page are very nice. HOWEVER, I REALLY don’t want that big PayPal banner in my item listings and would like a way to take it out, besides not offering PayPal. It is VERY large and overshadows Google checkout (who ALSO have a protection plan) and makes it seem like we are only offering PayPal.
Buy page looks nice.
I’m glad I don’t take PP, so I don’t have to look at that.
I also won’t use PP to buy, so I hope that the PP banner will not overwhelm other payment methods a seller may offer.
Regarding the PayPal Badge: Are you going to let us have the option of using the Badge or not? Please give us the option or I will discontinue using PayPal. It is not fair to promote PayPal over Google Checkout IMHO.
Google needs equal billing…
Shars…I agree with you 100% on this and have removed Paypal until this is resolved.
Love the Holiday decorations.
Hate the Paypal button in our booths! It truely makes a big dent to Bonanza being different and better than Ebay. And it really is an invitation to scam us even to anyone who hadn’t actually done it yet.
Bonanza was built on the idea of good communication with an active and involved selling community and available management. We don’t need to advertise Paypal’s protection. We should be building our own reputation of being a safe site!!
UMMM I don’t like that huge pp badge, since I have to pay paypal for every transaction that goes thru my paypal account if that badge needs to be that big in my listings then paypal needs to pay me some rental space!! Or I do hope they are paying you boyz some $$ to advertise for them, JMHO!!!
New buy page looks great!
HOWEVER, I do object to the Paypal badge being on my listings. This morning I removed Paypal as a payment option and will not accept them until that badge is removed. They do not advertise for me and I will not use my listing space to advertise for them.
Other payment services are just as good, if not better, and their so-called buyer protection plan does nothing but attract scammers to selling sites. I was disappointed when Paypal extended the plan to other selling sites, but I surely wouldn’t advertise them on Bonanza.
Excellent work! Love the new page — so friendly and inviting!
Love the new look (nice work, Alex) and agree with other posters on the issue of the PayPal badge. Would like to see parity between it and Google Checkout.
I really like the look!
I won’t ever take PayPal on Bonanza and I don’t want any PayPal advertising in my booth at all. It’s great to get away from the site that requires it. I love Google Checkout – no hassles. The new look is great but please NO PAYPAL.
RE: Paypal. Bill has addressed this in the forum already (link below) so, rather than try to update two places, I’ll close commenting. If you’re interested in following the PayPal thread check the link.
Thanks for the feedback all!
