Recently Auctionbytes blogged about FreeShippingDay.com and how merchants can register to be included in this one day promotion which will net them free traffic. This is the first year that FreeShippingDay.com will be opening up their platform to specific marketplaces. We spoke with their Project Manager, Simon Jobman who clarified the requirements:
Merchants need to offer some type of free shipping. It doesn't have to be on every item and there can be a minimum order amount. Orders placed on 12/16 need to be guaranteed by Christmas Eve. Last year 75% off the clicks onFreeShippingDay.com went to merchants offering free shipping on every order.
While Bonanza is not currently listed as a category, they will add us as soon as we have a minimum of 50 merchants who sign up for this free service (lets impress them overachieve!). You can sign up for this promotion here.

I signed up as soon as I got Ina’s newsletter about 9 this morning. Didn’t know if we should wait for Bonz to do anything but I wanted my booth to be included. It’s a great opportunity to get free traffic and possibly additional sales this holiday season.

Questions…
Is there anywhere special I should put the Bonanza name when signing up so that they know I am from Bonanza? Or is just putting my URL in a good enough way for them to know I am from Bonanza?
And what are we supposed to put in this box here when signing up? “Free Shipping Day Offer (140 character max.)†Maybe this is an area to put a special message into customers like if I only ship free to the USA?

For those that don’t want to offer the free shipping, but would like to do some other discount, how about a special one day Bonanza discount coupon (like for the faire) that they could use. It worked out really well for me and was easy to use. Once someone was in the site for the free shipping offer & saw a notice about the coupon, they might shop around.
All signed up and promoted the sign up!

Silly question but how can you guarantee delivery by Christmas Eve since the post office has been known to lose items for days and weeks at a time.

Hey Mark.. when you can will you tell us what this is abt? Fix Paypal gift card issues, re-enable gift cards. What gift cards??
Not sure what you mean by gift cards but if you email us at support then we will get right back to you.
So how do we do apply this free shipping for just one day to our products. I would want to have a minimum order amount since I have some items that are less than the shipping.
What might be best (if possible) is to adjust the prices on your items so you are able to offer free shipping throughout the holiday season. As for minimums, we do not have a setting for this so it is something that you would have to manually monitor.
I have two booths can I apply this to both of them?
Because the URL’s are unique, you should be just fine.

What a great event, it should bring lots of Buyers to Bonanza. Just a quick reminder to everyone regarding timelines for shipping. If you live in an area where the Post Office is closed on Saturday, if you sell an item on Friday the 16th in the evening, you won’t be able to mail the package until Monday the 19th. Christmas Eve is on the following Saturday, so if your package gets mailed on Monday, you will need to make sure it is delivered by Friday unless all Post Offices are staying open on Saturday, does anyone know? At Christmas you will most likely have to send Priority Mail so keep that in mind for cost. Does anyone know how long 1st Class Mail will take at Christmas? If it has to be guaranteed to arrive by Christmas Eve, what happens if it doesn’t?

I placed the free shipping sites reciprocating badge/link on my details page.
DID YOU KNOW that all Bonanza booths that have signed up are now on the main page of the site? We are not only listed under Categories, but we are also listed on the main page with the big boys like Apple, Kohls, Best Buy, Sony, Zales … the list goes on and on.

You can offer free shipping on select items. Last year 75% of the clicks on the site went to merchants offering free shipping on all orders. It’s beneficially to provide the best offer you can afford.
