In tonight’s release we are launching additional opportunities to promote your booths and coupons on Facebook. Why continue to add Facebook integration into the site? The short answer - we want to drive more traffic.
Right now we (and by ‘we’ I mean all of you) do a great job of driving traffic from Google, but our other traffic sources pale by comparison. In addition to simply growing our traffic, experimenting with new channels will reduce our reliance on one source and it helps build the Bonanzle brand in the process. Facebook is one of the largest referrers of traffic on the web, even bigger than Google for some sites, making it a great opportunity for us. Not a Facebook user? No problem. Using it is totally optional and we’ll be experimenting with other traffic-driving vehicles soon.
Here’s how it works. From the ‘Sell’ tab you can now promote your booth on Facebook. We let you tailor the message and then we post your booth URL and a few top products directly onto Facebook.
The promotion will appear on your wall, and depending on Facebook’s algorithm, it may also appear on your friends’ walls. We don’t suggest you do it every day, but when you have new and interesting products that you want to share.
For those of you that have custom coupons, you can also promote them directly onto Facebook from the advanced options in the ‘Sell’ tab. Once your coupon is created the Facebook option will appear.
We’ll continue to experiment with other ways to drive traffic so for those of you that aren’t Facebook fans – not to worry!

I just used this new feature.
It’s interesting and would be nice to feature items. At the moment, it is set up only for new items only.
It does not allow one to choose items. It would be nice for the seller to be able to select items. Maybe, if possible, have a scroll of images to choose from that can be clicked to select items to be shown. Maybe this could be something to work at for the future.
Not everyone has new items, but may have just reduced prices. It would be helpful if, maybe, the seller could choose between highest price, lowest price, etc. If the seller has just reduced their prices, they may want images to show from their lowest priced items rather than their newest items, which, incidentally, is any item that you added last… even freebies, which isn’t really productive as an ad for new items or anything else.
jmo.
Nice though.

I don’t understand what is different about the postings I have been doing on my Facebook already. I copy the link and I get the photo and it does go on my wall and profile and friends walls if I share – unless they have shut me off …haha. Been doing it for over a year and a half – and the links are still on my Facebook profile AND the photo still there even if the item sold! and the links lead the item or to my booth [or Bonanzle if an HPL that has expired] …going back to March of 2009! There is a + to add a “links” tab on one’s Facebook profile – and somehow to create a “Boxes” tab and put the links you want to save for others to see in there. I have not figured that one out yet.
The link to my booth is also the “web site” I have under my profile pic. It was live, lately it is not – have to see why.
Also, I have been posting HPL’s and then I have a choice of all the photos in the HPL to choose one as the thumbnail.
So other than coupons, how is this different than what I have been doing?
-———————————ETSY has a way of creating a “My ETSY” tab for Facebook. I have not done it – I have nothing for sale there – but a friend does it and it posts the whole first page of her booth under the tab. She also can post on her wall when she has a new item and there is a link to her “MY ETSY” as well. Each item on the page has it’s own “share” button so you can send her item to a friend.
There is a link to find out how to add one’s own ETSY and it led to this on ETSY:
Welcome to My Etsy for Facebook
Add an Etsy tab to your Facebook Page
Creating a My Etsy tab for your Facebook profile or fan page adds an Etsy tab next to your Wall and Info tabs. Your Facebook friends and fans will be able to see and share your Etsy shop and favorites right here on Facebook.
I don’t know anything about how it is done computerwise or even if it has to be an agreement between ETSY and Facebook – but the tab is there every time one goes to my friend’s wall or profile.
OK, now I see the differnce is one can do this without going to Facebook??
Great feature…worked just fine….Thanks
Cool … will give it a shot! .. now to get listing!
awsome. Lets see how well it works.
Love it. Thanks!
@ EclecticStuff until we can get an app of our own for Bonanzle on facebook you could use Netcarnation’s store front app. It will load all of your products it’s a neat app & it’s free!
You can find info about it here. NAV is the creator and is super helpful.

Also if you have a fan page you can have your storefront tab show up there as well.
I accidentally stumbled onto this a few minutes ago….kewl
What I would REALLY love is a booth tab like Etsy has. I can show my Etsy shop on my Facebook page. (would rather show Bonz….fewer fees!)
Thanks guys for all your hard work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks everyone for the feedback so far!
Etsy and other companies have indeed done some cool things on Facebook. We’ll continue to experiment and want to do what we can to empower you guys to promote your booths and items in cool ways.
For some of you this is likely not too different from what you have been doing manually already. My hope is that we make it easier on you and introduce the capability to new folks at the same time.
Again, more to come!
Awesome, I just tried it! One quibble? Instead of “so-and-so has some new items…” how about “has just listed these items at Bonanzle.com.”? Avoids that New vs. Used question. Just thinking.

Great Alex! I agree with biggirljewlry – I too have been wanting an “Etsy” type of integration with my FB page and Bonanzle. But, this sure will save me some steps till more is rolled out in the future.
I have started using this and it is work’n GREAT!

Hi Alex ~ Good job re~connecting Bonz with Facebook. I have only one thought…many of us don’t promote on our personal profiles so as not to bug our family and friends. We have set up Facebook Pages for our businesses (which are open to the public, where personal profiles are not), and it would be nice to have the Transporter give the option to post to Pages vs. Profile.
Of course I’ll just go along as I always have and cut & paste my postings to my Facebook Pages, but I’m sure many would like to see this option included.
“What I would REALLY love is a booth tab like Etsy has.”
@biggirljewelry: Cheyenne & I campaigned for someone to develop that when we first noticed the “My Etsy” app on Facebook…a good alternative is the NetCarnation storefront that Antiques mentioned above. It’s extremely easy to set up, and it updates automatically through your RSS feed as you list new products. Try it out
Awesome! Boyz Please take a bow!
I already use the Facebook it feature for older products and my storefront posts my newest listings. Great feature for those who don’t do either of those things I guess…
How would this differ from what I’m already doing?
And as Bookbrowsers said above:
We have set up Facebook Pages for our businesses (which are open to the public, where personal profiles are not), and it would be nice to have the Transporter give the option to post to Pages vs. Profile.
This is very important and would like to see this implemented. Right now, my listings and posts go to My Personal page, and my Storefront is on both. I Would like the option to choose which page I am promoting to.
Thank you for your continued efforts~
I am thankful for anything that is made easier. Thanks! I am a total techno idiot! But, I have done the Netscape Storefront for my Facebook and it was super easy, and automatically updates when you add an item to your booth. Then, it puts on a post for you on Facebook. NMB
@ those of you who mentioned setting up a Bonz FB booth page like Etsy. I just set up my Bonanzle “Storefront” using Netcarnation & it’s a breeze to use! If you need help setting up a separate page within your profile with the name of your booth, i.e. “The Wedding Boutique and More”, there’s a great video on YouTube.com by Cindy Shebley of Clover City. Go to YouTube and do a search for her name and you’ll see the 4 min video. Once you get your Bonz page set up it’s a breeze to set up the Storefront using Netcarnation. The Storefront appears under your profile and your Bonz booth page profile as well.
Agree with @momspennies about wanting the choice to land on profile or Bonz booth FB page.
Thanks!
Thank you Antiques and WeddingBoutique – I will have to try the netscape and check out the other forum :}
And thanks, Alex for working on this
My items still don’t show in Google shopping and I stripped it down to a single item to be sure, but nothing changed. Not relying on Google is probably a great idea based on the experience I’ve had so far.
I also use a page, not a personal profile for facebook. Until you add that functionality your efforts are wasted on anybody serious about selling to more than their circle of friends.
Great feedback on pages vs. profiles. We’ll take a look.
Moms great idea! It would be nice to be able to have it go to Fan Pages because it will help us keep those pages current and it gets feed to Google.
Alex make it happen please
Quite simply….Excellent.
I just completed this and it posted immediately. No matter how you slice it…. still… it’s a great thing and will continue to get better as time goes by.
You guys are wonderful…keep up the great work.
~Lisa
Great! Would love to see a Bonanzle tab, like twitter allows at the top of my FB page! Thank you…love the site,
Linda
