We've been making such rapid progress lately that I haven't had time to blog about everything new, but here are a handful of our new features launched during the past week.
Through the end of August (and possibly beyond, if we get sufficient response) we are allowing sellers to sign up for a special offer where no fees are paid for buyers that arrive at Bonanza from your website or blog through 2018. The link to sign up lives on your My Bonanza page:
Once you click through, you'll end up at a page that asks for the URL of your website and gives you a reference code to include to get free sales (i.e., no final value fee). This continues our belief that you should only have to pay for whatever it costs to acquire a buyer. If you send a buyer to Bonanza, it costs us nothing, so why should you get charged for it? Well, if you sign up for this offer, you won't. Cool!
We are also adding a couple new membership options for our larger (or just busier) sellers: the Titan Membership and Titan+Advertising Membership. The idea with these memberships is that we want to provide busy sellers with the means to get their store setup quickly (and perfectly), even if they import from another marketplace/inventory file, and even if they have no spare time to dedicate to polishing their Bonanza merchandise.
We now have a small team on premises dedicated to updating links, descriptions, shipping, profiles, and everything else a seller needs to get their store optimally configured. To whatever extent the seller wishes, we can maintain their merchandise on their behalf. Because buyers are unlikely to buy from a store with broken links or misconfigured HTML templates, or the like, these changes often translate directly into increased sales volume.
Likewise, we have an ever-growing suite of tools we've been working on to advertise Bonanza merchandise in new channels. The Titan+Advertising package lets sellers take advantage of this extra traffic/revenue source, with a $100 advertising credit we apply to buying ads on behalf of the seller each month. The idea here is that you can manage your own store if you have the time, but if time is of the essence to you, we provide these custom crafted services.
Along somewhat similar lines, another new feature we've launched allows sellers to take advantage of the Background Burner, even if they don't have the time to burn images themselves. When you mouse over an item while browsing the catalog, you'll now see something like this:
Clicking the icon with the pictures opens a popup to create a Background Burn window, which allows the buyer to create and submit a Background Burned image for the seller's review. If the sellers accepts the burned image, the buyer gets three tokens for it. Win win!
One of my favorite projects in the pipeline is a joint venture we're working out with Paypal and Amazon to finally allow checkout of multiple sellers in just one payment. This should open all sorts of opportunities for collaboration between sellers when buyers are checking out something like a sewing pattern but they also want to grab fabric and sewing needles while they are here. Stay tuned for more details on this one as they develop over the next week!

can a FB page be used to refer? Not too sure how to include the referal code on FB – figured out how to on my face Book page
It should work unless FB changes the link. I would think that it would work though.
Edited to add: Come to find out we were intending for this to only apply to personal websites and blogs. We do acknowledge the efforts of those sending traffic through social media, and as such, we are planning to honor the referral code for traffic from those sites for now. At any rate, you can only get referral traffic from a single website, so if Facebook is where you pick most of your referrals from, then you’d want to enter “www.facebook.com” as your website on the Referral Code page and that should work for now.
Woo, woo! Excited about the website referrals. I have a couple already in mind.
Attaboy!
What if you have more than one web site ? The page to add your site only has one slot to add a web site. What if we have more than one site that we want to sign up with ?
So long as your links include the referral code extension it should identify multiple sites. There should be a way to enter multiple addresses on the referral page. I will check in with Bill on that to see if we can make that more visible.
Multiple seller check out would be great.
I like the referral traffic idea and that sellers should be rewarded for bringing in buyers. However, Pinterest ( in particular), FB, Twitter, and other sites should somehow be able to be included. Lexity will show referral points for buyers. Any plans to include these sites in this offer?
So long as the referral link remains then you should be able to use it with your social sites.
well I just sold an item with the my referral code in it and low and behold there is a fee in my sales area for it so how does it work exactly?
this person came in from a link with the referral code added to it so somehow its not carring over to the fees area
If the person who arrives via the referral code navigates away before checking out (only to come back and checkout later) the referral code will likely no longer work.
When will Bonanza allow Pay Pals Bill me later so we can get more sales through customer financing??
Bill me later is not on our short list to have added soon. I believe it is an item that is currently being considered. You can add your vote to that potential feature by going to our “Feedback” page (linked at the footer of all Bonanza pages).
Can someone show me how to undo the background burn a “buyer” did to one of my pictures? I did not accept the burn and yet it is there in my listing. I thought sellers had to approve the burn first. Thanks!
The background burn should not be automatic, it should be a suggestion. If you find otherwise please contact us at support@bonanza.com (or click on the “Contact” link below) so we can address that.
I surely hope that nobody will be background burning my images because I will not be accepting any background burns. I detest stock photos and I don’t want my items looking like stock photos. I’m looking for your answer to ILoveRecycling2’s question… how do I undo it if somebody comes along and thinks they are going to burn my images?
Background burns are a suggestion only. So if you do not wish to use that suggestion you should not have to. Pro choice
I’m not sure how to create this referral code …I’m feeling lost
If you contact us at support@bonanza.com then we can help you with that. You can even say “Attn Mark” and I will be happy to assist you
for the background burns – just say NO
this is on the very first page of edit booth options basic settings
you can find it here in “Show legacy options” select “no” on the “participate in HPL burns”
Thank you for showing me how to turn background burns off which I’ve now done. I’m still wondering how my picture was modified though, since I did not accept that particular burn. Even if a seller is participating in background burns, I thought each burn has to be accepted first before it shows in the listing.
see if the original image is still in your item by going to it in edit
The original was not there in edit, just the burn. I just deleted the burn since I had another pic in the listing I could use as my main pic.
I think all the new features are great, and congratulations on the ECbytes article about them.
Unfortunately, the only feature I am looking to be implemented is a payment replacement for Google Wallet that doesn’t involve eBay or Amazon. When is this scheduled to happen or are there still any plans or is this announcement confirming that Bonanza is going to be a Paypal/Amazon payments only site?
Thank you. We are definitely looking into adding the ability for sellers to accept credit cards. We will be sure to update the community as soon as we have more information available.
Ditto gravityvideo. Really would like to have other payment options.
Increased Traffic promotions and more payment options are the only things that are really useful to sellers.
Ok, second sale coming in from a link with the referral code – not a new member – guess its a bug or something that is not applying the code to the sale
Edited first reply to you that may help clarify the trouble. See your first comment above
Thanks!
who pays for the background burns? the seller or the buyer?
Mark that is what I have
www.facebook.com/FrogAndBearCreations
that is my business page on facebook
I work pretty hard every morning to promote my stuff in different groups there so I am hoping that you will allow business pages to be counted as “personal websites”
