With the big launches of late a few of you might be wondering – ‘what’s next?‘
Over the next few weeks we’ll be making a series of smaller and more frequent updates to the site as we work to ‘batten down the hatches’ for the holiday peak. What does that mean? Here are the key areas we’re focusing on…
Bugs, bugs, bugs – no one likes bugs and we’re working to stamp them out across the site in varying places. In particular we’ll be taking a good look at checkout to make sure we have any issues addressed there. Mark is keeping us busy. ; )
Performance – no one likes bugs, but few people like a slow site either. So we’re taking a good whack at making the site faster. We’re not only adding a faster database we’re also compressing our images to make them faster (but without impacting quality) and structuring our code so it downloads faster. It feels like I should make a ‘Six Million Dollar Man’ or ‘Bionic Woman’ reference here, but nothing clever is coming to mind. Better, faster, stronger. There. I did it. Sort of.
Usability tweaks – for the past month we have been running at least 5 usability tests per week. And we’re capturing some great feedback from first time Bonanza shoppers that’s helping us tune the experience. We’ll continue to do this leading up to the holiday and beyond.
Search Engine Optimization – we’re also working on some enhancements to make our site even more Google-friendly. This is nothing that requires any work on your end. The changes are in how our code is structured, and, more importantly, how Google sees it. We believe this will improve our placement in Google over time.
If you have a specific bug you are concerned about please email support@bonanza.com. Be sure to include which browser you are using (Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc) as well as step-by-step instructions on how we can see the bug as you are seeing it. If you walk us through to how you found the bug we can diagnose what’s wrong and find a fix. It makes our lives much easier and greatly increases the likelihood that we get the bug fixed!
Thanks all!

Sounds good and it does seem like the site has been lagging for the last couple weeks. Speed would be nice! Thanks for keeping us informed.
Hopefully this will all come together quickly. We are losing precious time. And while you guys are updating can you give Ghosts Booth a good once over. There are many remnants of the past floating around in there…lol~ He needs some love….He confessed this to me the last time I visited him.

Thank You…

Thank You, Alex. I know all of Support has been working diligently re: many issues.
Also, I appreciate the timeliness of the responses I have received, when emailing Support about various problems. I know everyone is buried under emails (often, I hated to write, but did so anyway, if I came across an issue).
It’s nice to be a part of a site where Support addresses their Customers’ concerns & suggestions.

That’s all very good to hear. Thanks for the update and put on your biggest shoes to stomp on dem bugs, except the spiders and ladybugs. As much as I hate spiders, we need them for the web and we need the luck of the ladybugs. LOL
