Vintage original 8x10 in. US single-weight glossy photograph from the 1920's political corruption-themed western, HOOK AND LADDER, released in 1924 by Universal Pictures and directed by Edward Sedgwick. Cowboy Ace Cooper (Hoot Gibson), to avoid arrest, becomes a fireman, falls in love with the chief's daughter, Sally Drennan (Mildred June), and wins her in spite of the efforts of a crooked politician to separate them. The big climax of the story is reached in the burning of the O'Rourke mansion (one of the most spectacular fire scenes ever filmed) in which Ace saves Sally and the cowboy proves that the training which brought him such sore muscles and the other firemen so many laughs was far from wasted. The cast includes Frank Beal, Edward Davis, and Philo McCullough.
The image features an interior shot inside the home of fire Capt. "Smoky Joe" Drennan (Frank Beal), his arms protectively around his daughter, Sally (Mildred June), as cowboy-turned-firefighter Ace Cooper (Hoot Gibson) tells Gus Henshaw (Philo McCullough) to leave the apartment. It is in fine+ condition with light signs of wear on the corners; some paper residue in the top border near the right corner; a small diagonal tear on the bottom border with a small area of stains in each bottom corner. There are no pinholes, tears, creases, stains, writing, or other flaws.
