Anglican clergyman and biblical scholar Hedley Frederick Davis Sparks (1908-1996) was Oriel Professor of the Interpretation of Holy Scripture in the University of Oxford. A Fellow of the British Academy, he served as editor of the Journal of Theological Studies, an academic journal published by the Oxford University Press. The author of numerous books and articles, he donated many of his personal books on Anglicanism and the Anglican Communion to the library of Canterbury Cathedral.
