I HAVE USED THIS GLASS JAR AS A CANISTER SET FOR OVER 22 YEARS. I NEEDED SOMETHING WITH A TIGHT SEAL TO KEEP MY TEA BAGS, POPCORN, KIDS SNACKS, ETC IN ORDER TO KEEP THEM FRESH. THE JAR NEVER FAILED ME. IT IS A NICE SQUARE GLASS AND FIT IN ANY CORNER OF THE CUPBOARD OR EVEN ON THE COUNTERTOP. I HATE TO LET THEM GO DUE TO DOWNSIZING BUT IM GETTING A SMALLER PLACE (5th wheel). I HOPE THAT YOU WILL ENJOY THEM AS MUCH AS I DID AND DO. PURCHASED MANY YEARS AGO AT AN ANTIQUE MALL IN BLUE RIVER, WIS. This is a vintage glass jar, app. 8 inches tall x 6 X 6 1/2 inches x 5 inches in diameter at the mouth of the jar. EMBOSSED MARKING AS IT BEING AN ANCHOR HOCKING PIECE. #5498 - AND NUMBER 5. Has metal screw-on lid which has holes punched at the top. Original lid from ORVUS. Nice Art Deco lines. GREAT USED condition - no chips or cracks to glass, minor wear; lid shows wear to paint; and also the bottom of the jar shows a little bit of surface ware. This is to be expected as being used as a canister they were taken out of the cabinet and slid over the countertops many times. Especially when making cookies and caked during the holidays. see all 8 pics |
