John Gerletti

COBALT BLUE and SWIRL TOP VASE

Artfully designed, luminescent, hand blown glass vase.

Signed and dated 1983, to the underside of the vase's base, by Ventura, California studio artist, John Gerletti.

11 inches high, 5.80 inches wide at the mouth, 4.25 inches wide at the base.

The glimmering rich cobalt blue color becomes luminescent when light shines through, with designs bouncing the light from one artistic impressed grove design to another, with the clear glass at the upper border also showing glimmering light through the cobalt blue and amber swirls.

Gerletti has taken roots from an ordinary elegant necked vase shape, and created a unique art form by adding groves, a smooth knobby sub-lip border, and by fusing a richly protruding, color-swirled inner liner that doubles as an eye-catching abstract upper border.

Fine, thick pedestal-style vase with oval mouth, in beautiful rich cobalt blue, that appears luminescent when the light shines through, with artistic impressed swirls, perfect smooth rounded edges and flourishes, lovely fused glass inner liner and upper border made of clear hand blown glass with swirls of cobalt blue and amber.

An early Gerletti art piece, elusive in style and color.
