The Lunar Elite +2 uses flywire technology as its major support system.  The shoe does not possess much structural support and is very flimsy when pressure is applied from the left or right of the shoe.  To give it its "stable ride" the Lunar Elite +2 also employs lunarlon technology, which is used on most of Nike's "lunar" shoes.  The Lunar Elite +2 has some support from these two innovations, but is lacking general structural support.  This makes the shoe incapable of running on trails and incapable of withstanding a large volume of usage.  The shoe is known to wear out after only a small amount of usage.  As well the sole of the shoe is very flat and gives hardly any traction to the runner.  This again gives reasoning against sporting these on the trails.

The light weight of these shoes is the reason why they should be considered.  They weigh 8.8 ounces which is nearly 2.5 ounces less then traditional "neutral ride" running shoes.  This makes the Lunar Elite +2 great for track workouts, where losing a few ounces drops seconds off your intervals and keep your stride short, quick, and efficient. The nearly flat sole does not raise an issue on the track where traction is not of a premium as it is on the trails.

Given the right circumstances the Nike Lunar Elite +2 can be a very effective running shoe.  I would not suggest the Lunar Elite +2 to someone who is looking to rack up miles and needs durability.  The Lunar Elites would provide comfort and a nice light weight feel to those who desire that.  In some instances it can pass as a transitional minimalist.  You can train in these shoes but these shoes are better suited to be used only occasionally during interval workouts
