Vintage original 8x10 in. US single-weight glossy photograph from the 1920's WWI-themed drama/romance, HEAVEN ON EARTH, released in 1927 by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) and directed by Phil Rosen. Young Edmond Durand (Conrad Nagel) has been reared under the autocratic influence of his aunt (Marcia Manon), who directs a large silk mill in southern France. He revolts against a stifling career planned for him and leaves home with Marcelle, a Gypsy girl (Renée Adorée). They roam the countryside with a Gypsy caravan in romantic bliss; they are inadvertently separated but at the outbreak of war are reunited. When peace is restored, the lovers find happiness together. The cast includes Gwen Lee, Julia Swayne Gordon, Pat Hartigan, Bernard Siegel, and Leon Janney.
The image features an exterior close shot a young French woman, Marcelle (Renée Adorée), being held and kissed by Edmond Durand (Conrad Nagel) in front of a rustic country home. The verso features a printed caption that describes the image. It is in very fine-condition with light signs of wear on the corners and a light vertical curl along the side edges, so it does not lie completely flat. There are no pinholes, tears, stains, writing, or other flaws.
The May 1, 1926 Motion Picture News reported that Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer changed the title from The Escape to Heaven on Earth.
