Although this copy of the smaller cabinet photo does not credit the photographer, an identical photo also in our inventory indicates it was also taken in Portland. Measure approximately 6.75 x 9.75, and 5 x 8 including mounts. Condition: These are original photographs, not a copy or reproduction. The larger image has substantial soiling. The smaller photo also has a fair amount of foxing (age spotting). Comments: These photos came from a large collection of inter-related family images, mostly from the state of Maine, including the surnames Merrill, Macgowan, Chute, Merriman, Freeman, Randall, Lang and Coxen. The primary progenitors of these families are George Everett Macgowan, George Curtis Chute, and Henry Foster Merrill. We have added several photos of these families to our inventory, all listed and sold separately. Additional Information: George Everett Macgowan, Jr. was born in 1894 or 1895 in Portland, Maine. He was the son of George Everett Macgowan, Sr. and Susie L. Chute. George, Jr. was married September 10, 1919 in Maine to Ruth Elizabeth Merrill (1895-1982). Ruth was born January 2, 1895 in Ohio, the daughter of Henry Foster Merrill (1868-1956) and Mabel Ascenath Randall (1863-1946). They had a son John Stainforth Macgowan, and another Merrill Randall Macgowan. George Jr.'s mother Susie L. Chute was born April 17, 1871 in Portland, Maine. She was the daughter of George Curtis Chute (1845-1915) and Martha N. Freeman (1847-1879). She was married to George Everett Macgowan, Sr. (born November, 1867 in Portland, and died in 1930) on January 18, 1890 in Portland. They had several children including Charles Alton Macgowan (1890-1968), Carroll Morill Macgowan (1892-1973), George Everett Macgowan, Jr. (1895-1982), Stanley Warren Macgowan (1897-1941), and Virginia B. Macgowan (1900-1973).
