Vintage original 11 x 14 in. US lobby card from the 1920’s French WWI-themed war drama, THE SOUL OF FRANCE (La Grande Épreuve), released in the US in 1928 by Paramount Pictures and directed by Alexandre Ryder and André Dugès.

The image depicts Claire de Montmaure (Michèle Verly) as she holds the hands of wounded Paul Vertaens (Jean Murat), who responds to her presence from his wheelchair. The background artwork is rendered in beautiful pastel colors and compliments the tender scene. It is unrestored in fine condition.

The plot is based on the highest, most momentous theme in the war- a mother's love and anxiety for her sons at the front. France's own "Big Parade." (print Ad- Deseret News, (Salt Lake City, Utah)), September 13, 1929).
