US double-weight matte on-set candid photograph taken during the making of the 1940s musical comedy/romance, STAGE DOOR CANTEEN, released in 1943 by United Artists and directed by Frank Borzage. "Dakota" Smith (William Terry), a young soldier on a pass in New York City, visits the famed Stage Door Canteen, where famous stars of the theatre and movies appear and host a recreational center for servicemen during the war. Dakota meets a pretty young hostess, Eileen Burke (Cheryl Walker), and they enjoy the many entertainers and a growing romance.

Taken during filming, the image features an on-set candid shot of the film's director, Frank Borzage (far left), watching Katharine Cornell, Lon McAllister and others at a lunch counter scene. It is in very fine- condition as shown.
