Vintage original 11 x 14 in. US double-weight matte photograph from the classic 1960s musical drama biopic, THE SOUND OF MUSIC, released in 1965 by 20th Century-Fox and directed by Robert Wise. Based upon the play by Rodgers & Hammerstein, a young novitiate is sent by her convent in 1930s Austria to become a governess to the seven children of a widowed naval officer.
The image depicts an exterior scene of the entire von Trapp family as the perform on stage at the annual Salzburg Music Festival before making their planned escape from Austria to Switzerland to escape the Nazis. This photograph was used for publication in a newspaper and features blue grease pencil marks on the recto and verso as well as the original paper snipe that describes the photo and a portion of the actual newspaper clipping of this photograph. It is in very good- condition only as shown with some creases primarily near the left border.
