Grade:  Middle School

Inquiry based science is based on the fact that children learn better by having a wider context for understanding by the use of a central question or a few questions rather than just memorizing facts or reading. This book helps children develop those questions for themselves. For instance, children are given two balls in which one will collide with the other. To determine what will happen, what questions should be asked. Here the workbook provides the 3 questions that should be discussed. Next, children are given a similar scenario and they must now determine what questions to ask themselves to predict the outcome.

Develops science process strategies and test-taking strategies in writing.

Unit One introduces ten science process strategies with steps and hints to help students answer questions. Unit Two is divided into eight chapters that cover National Science Content Standards. Unit Three is a complete practice test with both multiple-choice and open-ended questions.
