Ligustrum vulgare

Classic Privet

Once germinated this plant is a fast-growing, deciduous / semi-evergreen in mild winter climates, shrub that usually grows to about 10-15’ tall and wide. Good winter hardiness and was once the most popular privet grown for hedges. Small white flower clusters emerge from dark green leaves in June. Fragrant flowers yield to globe-shaped, glossy drupes which ripen to black in fall and persist throughout winter. Giving the plant multi-seasonal interest.

The shrub is deciduous and tolerates a wide variety of soil types and is drought tolerant.
