The artist, in her own words...
"Growing up all I could think of was owning a horse and I bought my first horse when I was 18. My husband and I met riding in Griffith Park in Los Angeles, fell in love, married, raised two children while showing and breeding Quarter Horses and Paints. Over the years our horses won many awards and titles. Others who purchased some of our grown horses garnered many awards as well. Often my paintings of packers, gold miners and stagecoach drivers will show my love of horses as well as the rugged landscape which surrounds my subject.
Continuing to draw throughout my adult years, my love for oil painting began to emerge. In 1973, yearning to develop my skills more, I began private lessons from two well-known artists in Southern California which enhanced my skills in oils and acrylics. Between horse shows, I began showing and selling my paintings in California and Nevada. My paintings must tell a story to the viewer and over the years, my efforts and attention to detail have been rewarded with many awards including Best in Show. To capture the pioneers of our great nation on canvas, and include the beauty of nature in our surroundings at the same time, is a gift I have been given and I feel I must share."
