LARGE AMERICAN EAGLE HEAD/WINGS (reproduction Victorian) brass piece pendant measures 5-1/2” wide x 1-1/2” tall on Chinese turquoise beads (10mm and 6mm round) and Cinnabar beads - oval 15x9mm and urn-shaped beads (27x15x8 mm).

Necklace is 13” either side down to pendant, drilled and attached to pendant.

Full measurement from safety clasp to bottom of pendant: 14-1/4”

Isn't the ore CINNABAR toxic?  Indeed it is!  The mercury in cinnabar is what caused hat makers more than a century ago to go mad (i.e. "mad hatter" as in Alice in Wonderland).  Later, cinnabar was ground up, filtered to remove toxins, and used as a pigment in artist's oil paint called "burnt sienna".    Today, when you see cinnabar beads, boxes or vases, etc. the only link to cinnabar is the color, as cinnabar is not used in the burnt sienna color any longer.  The beads are actually carved of a lightweight WOOD, with a burnt sienna paint which is then lacquered.
