My Consignor inherited this beautiful ring from her mother who traveled extensively world wide and brought home gems from all over the world. This ring along with the matching earrings (sold) where bought from a trip to Hong Kong in the 1960s. It has the period style, with brutalist gold work that formed a high setting adorned a large natural lavender jadeite jade cabochon. the jade cabochon measures 20 x 15 mm and the ring sits above the finger approx. 15 mm. It is a size 5 3/4 and weighs a hefty 16 grams. The jade is completely natural and undyed with natural bloom in the stone. It has a subtle lavender color that is very mesmerizing. The stone demonstrates good translucency when against light. There are several white lines along the side, but these are lines or maybe planes of white inclusion in the stone. There are no cracks or chips. I have inspected carefully under magnifying glass and there are no seam on the stone, when run fingers over the lines, it feels completely smooth and is one complete stone. The surface of the stone do have an orange peel texture from age. The stone has a light yellow dint area about 3 x 3 mm on the side near the prone which is also natural characteristics of natural jade. The jade stone has been secured on the base with epoxy at certain point of time so that it won't fall out easily. All described has been photographed for your inspection. There is a little plaque on the back states 14K. Metal and jade stones have been checked with jewelers as stated.
