NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD
Tom Savini's remake of George A. Romero's highly influential horror classic gets a dignified presentation on DVD. Night of the Living Dead has been given two transfers for this edition, a letterboxed version in the widescreen aspect ratio. The original English-language audio has been mastered in Dolby Digital Surround, while a dubbed track in Portuguese appears in Dolby Digital Mono. Optional subtitles in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Korean, and Thai are included. Among the bonus materials on this release are a commentary track from director Savini, a short documentary on the making of the movie, notes on the production, biographies of the cast and crew, and the original theatrical trailer.
DAWN OF THE DEAD
For those who thought director Zack Snyder's remake of George A. Romero's zombie classic packed an impressive punch in theaters, Universal Home Video's DVD release of the unrated director's cut provides even more bloody fun -- in addition to offering some impressive bonus materials that actually serve to enhance the viewing experience. Lovingly presented in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen, this release of Dawn of the Dead looks fantastic. Not only does the presentation feature colors that are as bold as they are vivid, but it also offers great skin tones, shows little to no signs of edge enhancement, and delivers pitch-black darkness in the nighttime scenes.
DAY OF THE DEAD
Nick Cannon, Mena Suvari, and Ving Rhames star in this horror film based on the George A. Romero classic zombie film. A mysterious virus has infected the small town of Leadville, Colorado and the military is brought in to enforce a quarantine and stop the spread of the disease. As people perish, survivors realize that the virus is creating the walking dead who crave human flesh. Only a small number of people are immune to the virus and those few survivors must battle to fend off the infected zombies while trying to make it out of town alive.
