CAPTAIN AMERICA # 142 NEAR MINT- 9.2  w/ beautiful and ultra-clean off- white to white pages. Solid black, completely unblemished cover which is glossy and bright, as well as exceptionally smooth and sleekly-defined all the way across its entire surface area. The comic book has literally newstand color and gloss with spectacular eye appeal and attractiveness. The black portion of the cover is solid black and completely unblemished-- no stress lines or any wear whatsoever, for that matter. Furthermore, the spine structure of this comic is near perfect with just three small, light stress lines barely perceptible except under close inspection. (See the two close- up photos of spine.) Edges are straight and nicely-defined with no edge tears or creases. And as seen in photos three thru six, the four corners are all sharp, beautifully defined, and literally perfect right angles. No corner creases either at tips or across the corner surfaces diagonally. And the inside and back covers are clean and white with smooth, sleek surfaces. The comic is flat and smooth, with no spine roll or upturn at all. Centerfold tight and secure at both internal staple bars. Compact and tight comic with good, firm binding. The cover is very securely- attached at both staples, which are bright silver and clean, with no specks of rust wear, or discoloration. Truly exceptional comic book, both structurally as well as aesthetically, which looks like it just came off the newsstand spinner rack in 1971 with its spectacular color gloss; near perfect spine; and unblemished, sleekly-defined cover. These early 1970-71 issues are getting tough to find in high grade.
