This just might be about the cheesiest rip-off on the Beatles name you’ll ever see. This is a poster to promote a Beatles rally where signatures are being taken on a petition to bring the Beatles to San Diego. Starring the Maniacs, a rock and roll act that they predict will “out Beatle The Beatles in a few years”. Having never heard of the Maniacs, I don’t think that ever happened. The Beatles are mentioned 7 times on this poster! That includes the largest text BEATLE RALLY. Hanging this poster up around San Diego would surely attract some attention.
Really rare item. Only one I’ve ever seen. Great conversation piece and one of many countless shameless attempts in the 60s to capitalize on the Beatles name. I’m not sure of the year but given the slick look of the Maniacs I’m guessing 1964. Poster is 10 ¾” x 8 ½”. Overall fair condition with punch holes, tape residue and has been folded. Looks like this might have been in someone’s Beatles scrapbook.
