French Renault Char D1 infantry tank (ST2 turret)
The French plan of 1926, calling for the creation of a Light Infantry Support Tank, led to the development of the existing Renault NC1 prototype into the Char D1. One hundred and sixty vehicles of this type were produced between 1931 and 1935. There was a pre-series of ten vehicles and later 150 standard vehicles were built. Until 1936 the vehicles were fitted with Renault FT turrets because the intended cast ST2 turrets were not yet ready. The ST2 turret was armed with a short 47mm SA34 tank gun with a coaxial 7.5mm machine gun. The hull carried a 7.5mm MG in the bow. The type did not serve as an infantry support tank as originally intended, but as France's major battle tank of the early thirties; it was quickly phased out in 1937 because of its mechanical unreliability and relegated to colonial units in North Africa. The Char D1 was used against the Germans during the Battle for France later opposed the US landings in Northern Africa during Operation Torch, it served until 1943. The variant depicted has the ST2 turret.
This model is 3D printed and meant to be an economical alternative to wargamers wanting to expand their armies, it can also be used to build dioramas.
This model is made in seven parts, turret, turret peg, hull, trench crosser, antena and tracks. The model will be sent with support material still attached for better safety during transport, cutting and cleaning by the buyer will be needed before assembly. The model is printed using PLA and gluing is needed, if adding accessories to it superglue type glue will be required or other epoxy glue.
The pictures are from one sample model and some painted shots, the models are similar in grade of detail after print cleaning. The model is dispatched in a postal cardboard box with protective material inside for better safety.
