ALDER GULCH

by Ernest Haycox

New York: P.F. Collier & Son Corporation, [circa 1950s].

Reprint.

Originally published by Little, Brown in 1942.

A western adventure rich with differing characters, descriptions of travel, terrain, western life-styles, gold seekers, and more.

Haycox, a prolific western author and a screenwriter had several of of his works adapted to film, most notably John Ford's directed 'Stagecoach', and Cecil B. DeMille's directed 'Union Pacific'.

Attractive western-themed binding.

Slight rubbing to the upper and lower spine edges, else near fine in imitation red leather boards with putty-gray illustration of a bullet shooting through a cowboy hat to the front cover, and with gilt embossed titles and a putty-gray illustration of a cactus and decorations to the spine, red-and-yellow headband and tail-band, quality sewn binding; no dust jacket as issued.

Rather elusive title in hardcover, especially in the Collier decorative binding edition.
