The Passenger Steamer SS Eastland, "All Steel and Strictly Fireproof", sank at the dock in the Chicago River in 1915 and 844 passengers perished. This postcard is a rare advertising card in very good condition (see photos) and is unposted. The postcard features the ship's schedule and fare cost of $1 for a 108 mile round trip between Cleveland and Cedar Point. On the reverse is a printed advertisement to young people offering a discounted fair of 25 cents for a July 20 event for members of the South End Churches, their choirs and the Broadway YMCA boys and their friends. There is no year date on the postcard, but this event could have been schedule just days before the July 24, 1915 disaster. .Visit Our Store or use keyword Zayix in your search to see all our items.
