This statue of King Louis the Ninth, also known as St. Louis for whom the city was named, is located on Art Hill near the Art Museum With its base, the statue is about 40 feet in height. St. Louis is depicted as a crusader, lad in armor of the Thirteenth Century, holding SE his sword inverted to form a cross. The figure. and horse are bronze, the pedestal granite. Presented to the city by the Louisiana Purchase Exposition Co. Unveiled 1906
