Head Speaker Me-dwe-As-sung

Real Photo Post Card
A. J. Kingsbury, Antigo; Wisconsin

Original RPPC of a native American man holding a ceremonial staff with an elaborately embroidered shirt. There are snow shoes next to him. The text on the postcard reads "Head Speaker Me-dwe-As-sung.  x125  Copyright 1909 by A. J. Kingsbury,  Antigo, Wis". The photographer, Kingsbury, was based in Antigo, Wisconsin, and was known for Images of Ojibwe and Menominee Indians in northeast Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The originals are hard to find as they are typically purchased by universities, libraries, and historical societies.

Divided back post card (these were produced starting around 1907) and postally used (1910 postmark).

Please see the other antique RPPCs (many of Native Americans) I have listed in my store, Maxitivity.
