Southeast Asia, 1965. Captain Franklin Jefferson Hatcher of the U.S.Army's Special Forces leads a secret mission into the dense jungle highlands of Laos.

A casual encounter with American yachtsmen ends up revealing Hatch's identity to certain Pentagon officials who have waited two decades to silence the only man who knows their secret.
