Patrick Butler for the Defense Mystery Paperback Book by John Dickson Carr 1957

(Patrick Butler #2)

Who was the funny little man in the green fez with the dancing tassel?

And what business had he storming into Hugh Prentice's office, blaming Hugh for all his troubles, then getting himself murdered practically in the middle of the conversation?

Anyway - whatever he thought his troubles were, he would never have any more.

But Hugh's troubles were just beginning - because no one else could possibly have committed the murder!

The sheer, impossible nonsense of the situation looked like disaster to Hugh, but it was a worthy challenge to the imagination of Patrick Butler.

Together they combed the weird back alleys of London to unravel a series of clues that led to a murderer whose cleverness was surpassed only by his incredible good luck.
