Sweet fern is a plant that is used as an herb in folk medicine. Roots of Polypodium vulgare have an expectorant, anthelmintic and choleretic effect. An extract from the rhizome has a paralyzing effect on small worms (sedges), which are expelled from the body after applying a cleansing agent. Polypodium vulgare liquefies phlegm and facilitates its expectoration. In case of congestion in the gallbladder, the herb helps to evacuate bile juice. It also has a mild to moderate cleansing effect. It acts as a pain reliever for gout.

How to use Polypodium vulgare roots

About 2 tablespoons of roots are poured with 400 ml of cold water. They stay for 8 hours. The strained herb is again poured with a glass of boiling water. Stays for 1 hour. The two extracts are mixed and the mixture is drunk in equal parts for 1 day.
