The versatility and low cost of the TCD/NX make this server an

ideal digital solution for local cable and broadcast television

operations. Under the control of a TCD/V3 system controller,

the TCD/NX is easily integrated with additional video servers

and a wide variety of playback and recording devices.

The TCD/NX builds upon the strengths of the popular TCD R/P™ by adding an additional channel for playback, file sharing via gigabit Ethernet, integrated digital video messaging, and expandable, external hard drive storage. The power of the TCD/NX is managed and controlled exclusively through the LEIGHTRONIX TCD/V3™ Television Automation System Controller. Control as many as 16 TCD/NX servers for an all-digital system or integrate the TCD/NX with a wide variety of playback and recording devices for the ultimate in system flexibility.

The TCD/NX video server is equipped with two MPEG playback channels and one record channel. The playback and record channels are fully independent, yet share files from common media storage devices. Simultaneous operation allows you to stay on-air while new program material is recorded. Scheduled recording is also possible, allowing critical program material to be captured while you are away. The record channel supports both constant and variable bit rate encoding (CBR and VBR) up to 10 Mb/s (megabits per second). Users control the quality of recordings by selecting video data bit rates, full D1 or half D1 resolution, and audio sample settings. The TCD/NX supports extended-length filenames for easy track identification and will even generate new, unique filenames on-the-fly or automatically overwrite existing MPEG files!
