Horehound (Marrubium vulgare L) is a small flowering plant that strongly resembles mint. The herb is extremely popular among herbalists for its wide-ranging health benefits.

In folk medicine, the decoction of the beekeeper is used as a hypotensive, sedative and choleretic agent. Traditional healers prescribe it for hepatitis, cholecystitis, kidney stone disease, inflammation of the kidneys and bladder, respiratory infections, bronchitis, bronchial asthma, diseases of the stomach and intestines, diarrhea, malaria, painful and inadequate periods, rheumatism, heart failure, arrhythmia and scrofula , anemia, spasms, to improve appetite, as a means to calm the nervous system.

The infusion of the young shoots of a beekeeper in folk medicine is used as a hemostatic agent and as an anesthetic for rheumatism.

In folk medicine in Germany, it is used in the treatment of various diseases of the respiratory organs, whooping cough, senile and convulsive asthma, in women's diseases, diseases of the liver, spleen, bladder, jaundice, kidney stones, diseases of the stomach and intestines with profuse secretion of mucus.

In Bulgaria, it is used to release sputum in case of inflammation of the respiratory tract, acute and chronic bronchitis, whooping cough, senile and spastic asthma. The infusion of the herb is also recommended for diseases of the liver and gall bladder, stomach and intestinal inflammation and dysfunctional menstruation in women with anemia.

In liver diseases, gastrointestinal inflammation with colic, kidney and bladder diseases, diabetes, laryngitis, bronchitis, whooping cough, shortness of breath. Externally in scrofula, rheumatism, rashes.
How to use Horehound stalk

Extract: 2 tsp. herbs are soaked for 4 hours in 250 ml of cold water. It is filtered and the amount is drunk for 1 day in sips. If desired, it can be sweetened.
