Toma 1 i 2 The first scientific edition of M.A. Sholokhovs novel, Quiet Don, is based not on a selective comparison of living texts, as was done earlier in the preparation of collections of the writers writings, but on a complete, comprehensive comparison of all the texts of the novel published during the authors lifetime, as well as-found manuscripts of the first and second books of the Pacific Don, stored in the IMLS RAN, which revealed more than 4,000 discrepancies: factual inaccuracies, unjustified editing, deletions or additions for ideological reasons, individual words, expressions, and even entire chapters with which the modern reader is unfamiliar.
