The active ingredient of the ointment is dexpanthenol, enclosed in an oil-containing emulsion, which is well absorbed.
Dexpanthenol is quickly converted into pantothenic acid in skin cells. Pantothenic acid is involved in both the formation and regeneration of the skin.
Bepanten ointment is used:
minor burns and scratches, skin inflammation (caused, for example, by radiation therapy, phototherapy or ultraviolet radiation), chronic ulcers and bedsores, breaks in the skin near the anus, to accelerate the healing and epithelization of skin grafts,
· for the treatment and prevention of skin abrasions, cracks,
· for dry skin care,
· mothers during breastfeeding for regular care of the mammary glands and treatment of cracked nipples,
· when caring for children to create a protective layer against moisture caused by diapers, as well as to treat chafed, red skin and rashes caused by diapers,
· as an additional drug for patients receiving treatment with corticosteroid drugs, as well as during breaks in the use of corticosteroids.
