A late 19th Century Victorian easel back picture/photo frame crafted by the National Brass & Iron Works. This sturdy gilt cast iron frame showcases Baroque-style intricacies, featuring a pierced fancy scroll border and a leaf motif at the crest. The easel back allows for display on a desk, while the hanging loop doubles its function as a wall hanging frame. The back carries the manufacturer's mark and item number.
With the charm and elegance of the old world, this frame exhibits signs of wear from age: White and patina corrosion stains throughout, particularly on the backside, and some gold gliding loss. The backing is missing, as well as one of the fasteners. The remaining seven fasteners are sturdy and solid enough to serve the purpose. Notably, the decorative details on both sides at the top have been removed intentionally, to achieve a distinct artistic look. The cut-off surfaces have been treated and are smooth to the touch. Please see photos. Thanks for looking!
