CONDITION CLASSIFICATION GUIDELINES
If an item is noted as Sterling Silver, or .925 Silver in our listings, it means it is composed of genuine .925 Sterling Silver and it will be appropriately stamped as such. It is not sterling silver plated.
New Old Stock Stock items were never sold but removed from retail shelves due to aging rotation, shelf-wear or missing cards/tags. These items may show signs of handling in the store or light tarnish, but they were never sold. If included, the packaging, display cards, boxes or tags, may show shop wear, soiling and remnants of store labels/stickers
Sterling silver may show tarnish. Tarnish is not a defect, just a naturally occurring process on silver when exposed to air. We do not attempt to clean, polish, repair or otherwise alter any of our old store stock as mentioned in the description.
Some modern sterling silver jewelry may have the added benefit of being tarnish-resistant. Although no 925 sterling silver will be completely tarnish-free, a rhodium finish does make the sterling more tarnish-resistant. Rhodium is a part of the platinum family of metals. A rhodium finish is used over sterling silver to toughen it up and add resistance against daily wear and tear. It also adds a high-quality, long-lasting, tarnish-resistant shine. When it is used as a finish over sterling silver, the sterling must first be coated with nickel, making the 925 sterling silver piece slightly magnetic. It is still 92.5% sterling silver. (.925)
Stones, gems or pearls may show naturally occurring variations in color, quality or inclusions. Natural stones may vary in shape and size.
We do our best to describe the condition of these items as carefully as possible and we post several photos of the actual item. Photos may be magnified to show details and we also include measurements for your review.
