๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿซ Greek Mythology Deities Quick Recap

๐ŸŒน Aphrodite

Aphrodite is the Greek goddess of love, lust, and beauty. Greek artists depicted her as a beautiful woman, often appearing nude. She is accompanied by the winged God, Eros which means love. Aphrodite is the daughter of Ouranos and Hemera and, accordingly, married Adonis. The myrtle, dove, sparrow, and swan are sacred to her. The swan and the rose were both symbols of Aphrodite.

๐Ÿน Artemis

Artemis is the daughter of Zeus and Leto and the twin sister of Apollo. She is the goddess of forests and hills. Artemis carries a bow and arrows, and the deer is sacred to her. Occasionally, greek artists depicted her next to a crescent moon, a symbol of Artemis.

๐Ÿฆ‰ Athena

Athena is the goddess of intelligence and war. Unlike Ares, who represents mainly war violence, Athena is war's strategies and intelligence. She was also the patron goddess of Athens, who built the Parthenon in her honor. Athena's symbol is the owl.

๐ŸŒ›๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒœ Hecate

Having three heads at different stages of life, Hecate represents the archetypes of a Maiden, a Mother, and a Crone.
These three figures, coexisting in a single deity, show that Hecate can look to the past, the present, and the future. In addition, the goddess represents female power, which manifests throughout a woman's life, transcending her age.

๐Ÿฆš Hera

Hera is the queen of the gods. She is the sister and wife of Zeus and presides over marriage and marital fidelity.
The name Hera means protector or guardian. She owns a peacock with many eyes in its feathers, which can watch over her husband, Zeus.
The lily, a symbol of purity, and the pomegranate, a symbol of fecundity, were also consecrated to her. The cow is also associated with Hera, symbolizing the Great Mother who spills milk from the skies, from the Milky Way.

๐ŸŒฑ Persephone

Persephone is the underworld queen in ancient Greek mythology, the daughter of Zeus and Demeter, the god of agriculture, and the wife of Hades.
Persephone herself is a goddess of seeds, and when she is in the underworld, she represents the seeds that sleep in the dark soil. When she returns to the ground in spring, the power of Demeter, the goddess of growth, awakens the seed.

๐ŸŒ™ Selene

The goddess Selene is the personification of the Moon, the sister of Helios, who represents the Sun, and Eos, who in turn symbolizes the dawn.
She is the patroness of femininity, as the Sun and Moon used to have this opposing representation in antiquity. The goddess Selene could inspire love, ease childbirth pains, and create or break illusions.
