Life-Sized “LORAX” From the 2012 Universal Pictures Film Dr. Seuss' The Lorax!

Up for sale is a VERY RARE life-sized “LORAX” from the 2012 movie Dr. Seuss' The Lorax starring Danny DeVito. This little guy was part of the larger display pieces that were sent to movie theaters across the country to promote the movie. This Lorax was liberated from a display by a movie collector in Kansas and has been part of a private collection since the movie’s premier. He measures approx. 38” x 32” x 24” and weighs approx. 16.6 pounds. See the last photo for a shot of what this little guy looked like in the original theater display.

The Lorax, also known as Dr. Seuss' The Lorax, is a 2012 American animated musical fantasy comedy film produced by Illumination Entertainment and distributed by Universal Pictures. It is the second screen adaptation of Dr. Seuss' 1971 children's book of the same name following the 1972 animated television special. It was directed by Chris Renaud, co-directed by Kyle Balda (in his feature directorial debut), and produced by Chris Meledandri and Janet Healy, from a screenplay written by the writing team of Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio. Paul and Daurio also served as executive producers alongside Dr. Seuss' widow Audrey Geisel. Starring the voices of Danny DeVito, Ed Helms, Zac Efron, Taylor Swift, Rob Riggle, Jenny Slate, and Betty White, the film builds on the book by expanding the story of the Lorax and Ted, the previously unnamed boy who visits the Once-ler.

The Lorax globally premiered at Universal Studios in Hollywood on February 19, 2012, and was theatrically released in the United States on March 2. The film received mixed reviews from critics, with praise from its animation, musical score, and voice acting, but criticism directed at its characters and story. Additionally, the marketing of the film received backlash for its perceived contradictions to the book's original message. Despite these criticisms, The Lorax was a commercial success, grossing $351 million worldwide against a budget of $70 million.

Condition:

The standee is in good condition considering its age, there are some areas where there are paint scratches and chips throughout but it is still in very nice condition. There are two holes in the back of the Lorax where he was attached and removed from the lobby display.

As with any previously owned piece, anyone looking for additional defects may find them, so we can’t guarantee this is 100% blemish free, but it is in wonderful vintage condition!
