Portable Rear View Camera For Cars, Kids, Fun---This is a fun gadget with a lot of applications if you have 9-14 volt DC power available and a cigarette lighter style socket.  Officially it's a "rear facing car seat monitor" which I translate as it's a device for viewing what kids are doing in the back seat while you are driving. The user manual shows a child in a baby seat on the cover.

So I bought this from a dealer in the lowlands of South Carolina and had a good long drive to pick it up.  I picked it up in the dark of winter but the next day I decided to open the box, see how hard it was to rig it up and, foremost, make sure it worked.  It was brand new but who among us has not had to return at least one brand new item that didn't work and needed to be returned?

Actually it was pretty easy to hook up once I deciphered where the cords and straps were supposed to go.  I did it in my driveway and the pictures were taken at the mercy of in-and-out  sun.

Here is a picture by picture history of what I found.
1.  The total  contents of the box.+ found later a warranty card and small user manual that was helpful,
2. Same
3. 4.3 in monitor open
4.  Monitor closed
5.  The power plug and wires with connections
6.  The monitor connected with the wire to the wire and can go under or between seats to hook to the camera
7.  The small camera attached to the back of a head rest via straps provided
8.   A bunny laid in the back seat on a pillow  (bunny discarded for lack of contrast with the pillow)_
9,  Picture on the TV on dash complicated by bright sunlight. It was really a good picture.

CONCLUSIONS:  This works and is pretty darned handy.  if you are using this for one purpose such as monitoring a baby in a baby seat this can be rigged up where you can minimize the fight with cables and you can stabilize the position of the camera on the back of the seat to get closer pictures.using tape or whatever works.  The cables can be hidden under seats or mats to make it easier to get in and out of the vehicle.  I liked it.  I though the quality was quite good for the cost.(Wholesale about $39.00).  If I had a source closer to home I would try and get a distributorship.

Note there is also a sticky plastic plate for dash mounting the monitor.
