Brand new factory sealed dvd appears to be a full frame presentation on a public domain label. This is probably a dvd-r and could even be taken from a vhs source. Be sure your machine supports this format. Don't expect a restored presentation but rather a faded color and damaged film in the Grindhouse tradition.
The case rating says it is 'R', but it is reportedly NOT, this is the edited 'PG' version for TV. This version makes it more jokey or humorous and deflates all the gory horror.
Released in 1972, the year of the cannibal, we were offered 'Raw Meat', 'Cannibal Girls', 'Death Line' and this. Out Of Print (OOP) in all formats and no longer being manufactured.
A young woman is lured to a seaside inn for an all-exspenses-paid holiday that she has won (same plot for 'I Still Know What You Did Last Summer'). Gillin is the student who arrives at the inn run by two nice old people, who have a mentally retarded grandson. After two of the guests disappear, Gillin discovers that her genial hosts are in fact cannibals!
Thanks mainly to excellent playing by the cast and a fair amount of genuine wit, as opposed to gross humour, the film actaully works as that most difficult of genre hybrids, the horror/comedy, even when the final credits roll as a menu.
