I have enjoyed having this beautiful ruby carnival glass bowl in my collection for several years. It's time to let someone else enjoy it, now. In my opinion, this bowl is "drop dead gorgeous!" It's made of ruby red glass with a colorful, even, carnival coating all over, inside and outside, even on the bottom of the foot of the bowl. There is a 5-petal dogwood flower in the center of the bowl and clusters of leaves with a standing flower between each pair of them, circling the sides of the bowl, inside. (These are NOT actually dogwood leaves or flowers -- but that is what Westmoreland named the pattern.) The rim of the bowl is flared and fluted, with a piecrust type of fluting.
This bowl is 3 1/2 inches tall, 7 1/2 inches wide at the top, and 3 inches wide at the base. It weighs 1 pound 4.1 ounces before packing. It's a reissue of an earlier Westmoreland pattern, that was reissued in ruby carnival glass in 1983. It has the last mark Westmoreland used before they closed.
