A heavy cast iron sconce light that was once used to indicate whether an elevator was going up or down. When the top globe was lit the elevator was going up, and so on. This is a quality light, finely cast and weighing 5 pounds 10 ounces without the globes.
This light from the early 1900s has been fully restored. It was stripped to bare metal, primed with an anti-rust primer, then given multiple coats of dead-black. The sockets are two-piece porcelain with hex bases; very hard to find these. Three thumbscrews are original, three are replacements. All turn freely as the holes were retapped.
The art glass flame globes are stunning as you see, and sell for $250 each retail. This sconce is also available with opal 6-inch round globes for $425 total, and with frosted flame glass globes also for $425 total. These versions are listed separately.
