Cactus Quartz or Spirit Quartz
About 12 cm x 10 cm x 9 cm
One of the nicest pieces from recent shipment. A very unusual piece. Very sparkly. Rock base is quartz penetrated by seams that show how the crystals grew.
Please look at pictures carefully. Crystals change colors with changes in type angle and intensity of light. Color may also vary between monitors. Pictures were taken in natural light. These crystals were first discovered in 1986 in the Magaliesberg Mountain Range near Pretoria, South Africa. Cactus quartz is formed by a quartz or amethyst crystal being encrusted by a second generation of smaller crystals grown on its faces. It occurs as quartz, citrine and amethyst, and comes in a wide range of colors, including purple amethyst, violet amethyst, smoky, milky clear and golden citrine.
