1962 Seattle World's Fair Guidebook, "Century 21 Exposition" Space Needle

1962 Seattle World's Fair known as the Century 21 Exposition: Space Needle's Origin, Boeing & Alaska Airlines, LeRoy Prinz Peep Show! Tacoma Visitors Guide! Here is from a very nice memento from the 1962 Seattle World's Fair: The definitive guide book to escort you into the "Century 21 Exposition" This is from a time and place that gave us the Space Needle, where Boeing & Alaska Airlines paired up for future problems, and the infamous LeRoy Prinz Peep Show rivaled Tacoma as an attraction.  But my favorite feature had to be the Christian Witness Pavilion where a 7 minute film proposed the "Christian message that the only optimism for a world living with a COBALT BOMB is in God!" 'nuff said! 191 pages in a 5" X 7" pocket size paperback.  Very good condition, though spine appears a bit fragile, and a Sharon Smith made a hand written notation that she went to the fair in a 1954 Chevy with her family.

I entered College in 1965 and it doesn't get any more "Sixties" than that.  As today is the era of technology and instant connection, the 60's were an era of social consciousness and mind expansion. Interestingly, when asked which era people would like to relive the 60's Summer of Love is the most popular destination. But, it's not coming back, and it doesn't have to, because it already thoroughly informs and drives the culture we live in today! So, just remember the next time you are tempted to say "Okay, Boomer..." to someone who looks old that the 60's were our gift to all you wanna-be hippies and hipsters out there! And, if you'd like some relics and artifacts from that very busy decade you will always find some right here at Portland Pandemonium's The 60's Were Groovy Shop:
