A Superb Original Medal in Stunning Condition

This scarce full size medal is in gilded bronze construction and measures approx 1.25 inches x 1.50 inches. The condition is extremely fine and is very desirable and pleasing to the eye. It is complete with original ribbon which is also in excellent condition.

Obverse - Central cross of Lorraine (emblem of the resistance) and laurel leaves displayed in the arms of the cross.

Reverse - Plain except for legend in the centre "Combattant Volontaire Resistance". The lower arm of the cross (at base) displays official mintmark to the left and initials "BR" to the right. (BR = Bronze).

This medal was instituted in 1954 and was awarded to those who had served in one of the resistance organisations for at least three months prior to the 6th of June 1944 in an occupied zone.

A very desirable medal awarded to a very brave volunteer resistance fighter of WW2.

These medals are getting scarce and harder to find, epecially in such nice condition as this one.
