Some great bossa nova contained here, although none of the well known artists to be found. Instead, you will find a band like Os Cariocas, who are a popular Brazilian band who were founded in 1942 by Ismael Neto, and who continue to perform today (with new members). Wanda Sá, who is featured four times, has a great, warm voice that fits perfectly with the rhythms and tones of the music. Highlight: Pery Ribeiro’s version of Desafinado. Easily the best tune on the recording. Ribeiro was ranked among the 100 best Brazilian singers of all time by Rolling Stone Brasil (at #64): “Possibly the most underestimated Brazilian singer…became one of the leading voices of bossa nova…Skill, precision, refinement, musical intelligence—Pery had all this to spare and sang all styles.” 31 October 2013 Rolling Stone (Brasil) (73). Lots of great surprises here, like a bohemian dream of a woman walking toward you on the beach, or like a samba heard in the slums. Slip cover included (see photo).
