Can I try Zorin OS before installing it on my computer?
Absolutely! You can run Zorin OS from a USB drive to test-drive it without touching your computer's hard drive. When you're ready to install it, simply double-click on the "Install Zorin OS" icon on the desktop and follow the step-by-step instructions on the screen.
 
Will my computer work with Zorin OS?
If your computer is 15 years old or newer, chances are it should work with Zorin OS. You can check if your computer meets the system requirements.
 
Will [insert app] work in Zorin OS?
You can install a huge library of apps from the built-in Software store, including many popular apps you know and love. Zorin OS is also natively compatible with Ubuntu & Linux apps (.deb or .AppImage executables), and you can run many Windows apps by simply double-clicking on their .exe or .msi file.
 
How long does it take to get Zorin OS?
The time it takes to download Zorin OS and create a USB install drive will depend on your Internet connection and hardware. Zorin OS usually takes between 10 and 20 minutes to install on your computer, just enough time to have a coffee. You can find out how to install Zorin OS here.
 
How long will Zorin OS get software updates for?
Zorin OS 17 will receive software updates and security patches until at least June 2027. We normally release major versions every 2 years, so you'll have plenty of time to upgrade to future versions to extend support.
 

Boot from the USB Install Drive 

To install Zorin OS, you must boot your computer from the USB Install Drive.

  1. Switch off the computer you want to install Zorin OS onto. Make sure it’s completely powered off, and not in sleep or hibernate mode.

  2. Plug the Zorin OS USB Install Drive into the computer.

  3. Switch on the computer. Immediately at start-up, repeatedly press the designated key to open the Boot Device Menu.

    • On a PC. This key should be indicated on the screen at start-up or in your computer’s manual. If you’re unsure which key to press, it is usually either EscDeleteF2F12, or another function key.
    • On a Mac. Press and hold the ⌥ Option key at start-up. If you’re using a wireless keyboard, you may need to plug in a USB keyboard instead to be able to select the boot device.
  4. At the Boot Device Menu, use the arrow keys to highlight the option which mentions “USB”, “EFI”, or the flash drive manufacturer’s name. Press Enter to boot from the Install Drive.

    • On a Mac. Sometimes the Install Drive might be incorrectly identified as “Windows”, which is normal.
  5. Select the “Try or Install Zorin OS” option in the Zorin OS boot selection menu using the Enter key.

    • If your computer has a modern NVIDIA graphics card (produced after 2013). You can select the “Try or Install Zorin OS (modern NVIDIA drivers)” option using the   keys. Press Enter to boot and install with the official NVIDIA proprietary graphics drivers.
