Description

This headline is part of a historic collection of original newspapers I accumulated myself over 50 years that I am listing on E-Bay for the first time. Many of these editions are likely the only known examples to exist.

This particular one page edition is from the Cincinnati Enquirer dated Sunday November 11th 1973 and it’s an article about one of the pioneers of baseball card collecting named Frank Nagy of Grosse Ile, Michigan.  In fact Frank Nagy has autographed the photo of himself which I got in person at a National Baseball Card Convention at the Howard Johnson Motor lodge in Sharonville, Ohio. This was one of the earliest National Conventions and I recall it quite well with Waite Hoyt, Johnny Vander Meer and Edd Roush signing autographs.  This  is a fine article where Frank say’s his most prized card is the T-206 Honus Wagner tobacco card which he values at $1,500.00. Today that particular card is worth millions and is considered the Holy Grail of all sports cards.

I will tell you I bought a 1956 Topps Mickey Mantle for $10 dollars and a complete 1957 Topps set for $450.00. And yes I still have both in my personal collection.
