Description
Approximately 177 photographs, most 3 X 4
in. (good contrast); 7 X 11 in. scrapbook album, black cloth boards detached
pages (no spine). This album formally belonged to Ralph Blaisdell
(1864-1949) a Railroad executive for a number of Western railway companies and
later in life with the Florida East Coast Railway while living here in my
hometown of Saint Augustine, Florida. This album covers his and his
families’ travels and activities during the early 1920’s. They were
heavily involved in sports and politics which reflect the subject matter of
this wonderful album.
Hand decorated folk art highlights this album showing rare
unpublished images of VP Calvin Coolidge at Golf tournament and President elect
Warren Harding, including an exceedingly rare photo of Harding giving his
inauguration address speech. But before I digress...."
